Kindergarten is the only state mandated grade where teachers do not already have knowledge of incoming students. All EPS kindergarten classrooms will participate in K-start for the first five days of school.
K-start allows students to experience a school setting while getting to know their kindergarten teachers and peers before being assigned a classroom. This helps placement to be more intentional by establishing balanced and thriving classrooms for a successful kindergarten experience.
Teachers are able to observe children in a purposeful play environment as well as connect with students to learn individual personalities.
Students will become familiar with kindergarten classrooms and teachers as they engage in purposeful play activities.
Parents will receive a video introduction from their child's teacher on the evening of Wednesday, August 23rd. This will let parents and kindergartners know which classroom they will be joining for the school year.
