students watching a science demonstration with excited faces

With a Boom and a Pop, the Science Museum Oklahoma scientists  caught our students' attention at our special assembly on Friday, February 2nd. The Science Live crew took the stage to teach our students about the properties of air. Haskell students learned that although we can't see air, we can experience vibrations that travel through the air to our ears. We also learned about the combustible nature of air when fuel, heat, and oxygen combine to create a chain reaction! You can imagine how exciting that was. A favorite moment at the assembly was when liquid nitrogen was used to condense the air inside balloons to shrink them over half their original size. Special thanks to SMO and to Charles Haskell G.A.T.E. teacher Mari Cook for providing our students with this special science event.
