Charles Haskell Elementary School welcomed Oklahoma educator and author Dennis Mathew in March. Mathew, with his guitar in hand, greeted the students with a big smile. He was here to share his new book "How Grizzly Found Gratitude" as well as teach the students about the process of writing and publishing a book.
Mr. Mathew encouraged the students to sing a few songs with him, to listen to a story, and to enjoy learning about the writing, illustrating, printing, shipping, and distribution of new books. Students loved seeing how the artist Taylor Barron started with an idea for Grizzly and his friends and then turned them into colorful illustrations.
Each student left with a copy of the author's book as well as a lot of inspiration to try to be an author themselves.
